Opening the Chest: Instruction Video
Benefits
This movement helps develop greater awareness of muscles of the chest and upper back.
Key Positions
Do and Don’t
- DO breathe gently through your nose, keeping your tongue on the roof of your mouth.
- DO allow your arms to open and close in front of you as a natural result of filling and then emptying your body with air.
- DON’T make your arms rigid – use as little physical effort as possible to move your arms gracefully in and out, allowing your hands to gently follow the movement of your arms.
Meridians
This movement works with the middle dantian.
Visualisation
Expanding to the finger tips when the chest opens and palms directed in towards the body as it closes.
